He was questionable to return and later downgraded to out, ending his day. In addition, cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick suffered a quad injury and is questionable to return.
Bengals’ Reggie Nelson, Dre Kirkpatrick leave Wild Card game with injuries
The Bengals’ secondary suffered key secondary losses in the first half.

Nelson suffered the injury early in the second quarter. During a safety blitz, a teammate stepped on Nelson’s foot, causing it to bend awkwardly. He finished the play and even got to Ben Roethlisberger for a sack, but Nelson was in obvious pain. He had to be helped to the locker room and was unable to put any weight on his foot.
Nelson has enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in 2015, finishing with eight interceptions, tied with Marcus Peters for the league lead. He also had 14 passes defended, 77 tackles and two recovered fumbles. The Bengals will miss Nelson’s presence with Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown always being a deadly combination, but so far their defense is holding firm. The game is currently scoreless in wet and rainy conditions at Paul Brown Stadium.
