The Houston Texans moved up one spot in the draft order, trading the No. 22 pick to Washington, to acquire the No. 21 pick.
Washington and Texans swap No. 21 and No. 22 picks
The Texans gave up a late-round pick in 2017 to move up one spot in the draft order.
Washington moved back a spot in the draft order and received a 2017 sixth-round pick in exchange, which is a small amount of compensation, but an easy trade to make so long as the team wasn’t concerned that the Texans would grab a player they wanted.
Evidently, Notre Dame wide receiver Will Fuller wasn't a player that Washington was too concerned with making available to the Texans as Houston selected him with the No. 21 pick, making him the second receiver off the board after Corey Coleman went to the Cleveland Browns at No. 15 overall.
Washington may be without a late-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft after trading a conditional pick to the San Francisco 49ers for quarterback Derek Carrier. The trade is dependent on playing time for Carrier, so it's possible Washington will keep its late-round pick and add a sixth-rounder to the mix, as well.
