Injuries

Some good news for the Dolphins

Sidney Jones is making progress about four months after his Achilles tear

Kenneth Dixon won’t have a chance to build on a solid rookie campaign in 2017.

The Steelers WR corps got a bit thinner for training camp.

Jaylon Smith, a potential top 10 pick in 2016 whose rookie season was stolen from him by a catastrophic knee injury, practiced in pads for the first time in his NFL career Wednesday.

Washington added some familiar names to its PUP list Wednesday.

News

Lucky Whitehead’s week just got worse. Now he’s got to play for the Jets and their three-headed QB attack of McCown-Hackenberg-Petty

The Eagles’ 2014 first-round pick is no longer an Eagle.

Trevor Siemian is getting first crack at the Broncos’ starting QB job.

The Broncos’ newest tailback addition, Jamaal Charles, will be brought back from injury slowly.

Tom Savage is the Texans’ starting quarterback, and not Deshaun Watson -- for now.

It sounds like the Eagles and lineman Allen Barbre came to a mutual agreement on his release.

Actually, they’re gonna trade him to the Broncos instead.

Well, Everson Griffen just got a big raise.

Cody Kessler will get the first crack at the Browns’ starting QB job, according to head coach Hue Jackson.

Jabrill Peppers, who played 11 different positions at Michigan, will get the chance to use that versatility as a pro.

Dontari Poe has $125,000 riding on today’s weigh-in (he made it).

The Patriots will head to Detroit next month

Quotes

Eagles’ 310-pound tackle Lane Johnson is a big, big dude — and he remains that way during the offseason.

When pulling your SUV around the neighborhood becomes an everyday workout, no big deal.

Washington seems to be dealing with its Kirk Cousins drama pretty well.

Training camps across the league are evolving through their embryonic stages this week, combining star players and undrafted rookies alike as each team takes its first step toward Super Bowl 52. While the action on the practice fields may be light, we’ve still got plenty of news to churn.

First there was Lucky Whitehead’s busy week, which began with a kidnapped dog, continued with an arrest warrant and subsequent release from the Cowboys, and ended with Virginia police officers apologizing for somehow blaming a man one full time zone away from the scene of the crime.

Things took a more lighthearted turn from there. Jonathan Stewart showed up to his 10th NFL training camp in a dark green, Oregon-themed “Duckmobile.” His ride was much cooler than Curtis Samuel’s; the rookie tailback/receiver was dropped off in his mom’s black sedan. That’s still probably better than driving your grandmother’s Camry to practice.

Other breaking news from Tuesday included Matt Kalil comparing the Panthers’ front office firings to Game of Thrones and Gary Kubiak returning to the Broncos as a scout, so it wasn’t a huge day for headlines.

Much more action is set to take place Wednesday, and we’ll keep you updated with the latest as more teams start to report. Over half of the league’s teams already have their rookies on board at camp, and veterans are filing in to put an end to their 3.5-month vacations:
