NY Fan for life
In 1955 I was 9 years old, and I had two diehard Dodger fan cousins, and they did everything they could to earn enough money, to attend the home games. My Grandmother offered them carfare, and a ticket if they would take me with them. We got there in time for Happy Felton's knothole gang, and I guess because I was the smallest kid there, he asked me the question, that got us free admission to the bleachers. I became a fan that afternoon, and along with my cousins we attended about 5 or 6 games that summer.
Nothing could bring back the excitement of being at the old Ebbet's field, watching "DemBums" but when I read the "Boys of Summer" by Roger Kahn, I thought he was me. Of course he was able to bring it back to life on paper, and that was a great read.
