Joel Quenneville Hopes To Return To Chicago Blackhawks Friday

Joel Quenneville is still in the hospital this Thursday, but he’s hoping to get back behind the Chicago Blackhawks bench on Friday night when his team hosts the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Kelly Chase, a former member of the St. Louis Blues who played under Quenneville there, talked about his former coach on Versus last night. Here’s the transcript, via ESPN Chicago.

“I had an opportunity to talk to him, and he’s in great spirits,” Chase said while doing an NHL studio show for Versus. “He did have a little bit of internal bleeding. It stopped. They’re trying to find out where it was from.

“The good news is all the reports back are good. He was lighthearted. He said, ‘Hey, I’m going to be in the next game.’ He wants to get out of that hospital right away.”

Internal bleeding is no joke, but it’s nice to see that Coach Q will be back behind the bench sooner rather than later. Without him on Wednesday night, Mike Haviland served as acting head coach and the Blackhawks beat the Minnesota Wild 4-1.
