Capitals Vs. Sabres: Johansson’s Third Period Goal Gives Capitals 2-1 Victory
Mathieu Perreault got the scoring started for the Washington Capitals at the 6:09 mark of the second period. He scored off an errant dump in that found a crazy bounce off the glass. It ended up on his stick in the middle of the zone with a goaltender that was way out of position and an easy goal. Jason Pominville scored three minutes later to tie the game back up at one. His goal came on the powerplay off of a Brooks Laich goaltender intereference penalty.
Marcus Johansson scored the game winner in the third period after he tipped in a Mathieu Perreault shot on a Capitals powerplay. That goal came at the 5:40 mark of the third period and was assisted by Mathieu Perreault and Alexander Ovechkin.
Semyon Varlamov got the win for the Capitals, allowing one goal on 29 shots while Ryan Miller took the loss for the Buffalo Sabres, allowing two goals on 39 shots.
