Boston Bruins At The 2011 NHL Trade Deadline: Rumors, Needs And Expectations

After acquiring both defenseman Tomas Kaberle from the Toronto Maple Leafs and center Rich Peverly from the Atlanta Thrashers on February 19th, the Bruins salary cap has been officially topped out. But just as importantly, they aggressively addressed the need for defense.

If the Bruins can stay ahead of Montreal for the remainder of the season and win the division, they ought to be sitting pretty for playoffs. That doesn’t mean that can’t make any more trades; it just makes it appear less likely that they will.

Status: Buyer

Need: None - topped out by the salary cap

Players On The Block: No one in particular

Prediction: They may make a minor move before the trade deadline, but the Bruins are likely done trading for the season. Still, if they’re able to trade a high salary guy for some cheaper parts, that could happen. Chances are, they’re not doing anything more, however.
