The Carolina Hurricanes are looking to get back into the Eastern Conference playoff race with their showdown against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night.

    Hurricanes Vs. Sabres: Hurricanes Get Closer To Playoff Race With 1-0 Win

    The Carolina Hurricanes bring themselves to within two points of the eighth and final playoff spot with their 1-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday night. Brandon Sutter scored the lone goal for the Hurricanes within the final minute of the first period to give the Hurricanes the only goal they needed. The assists on the goal came from Derek Joslin and Chad LaRose.

    Cam Ward was the story of the game as he made 42 saves in the shutout for the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes were outshot all night, including a 22-13 first period, but Ward made some timely saves to keep the team in the game and ultimately win the game. Buffalo’s Ryan Miller made 32 saves in the loss for the Sabres.

    Hurricanes Vs. Sabres: Hurricanes Continue To Lead 1-0 Through Second

    Brandon Sutter’s goal in the first period is still the only goal of this game for either the Hurricanes and Sabres as the Hurricanes still lead 1-0 over the Sabres through two periods. The Hurricanes were not outshot as bad as they were in the first period but the Sabres did still outshoot Carolina 10-9 in the period and are outshooting them 32-22 for the game.

    Cam Ward is still the player of the game making all 32 saves in the game and keeping the Hurricanes in the game thus far. Buffalo’s Ryan Miller allowed the only goal of the game in the last minute of the first period and has 21 saves on the game. Both Tim Connolly and Jeff Skinner have five shots on goal for each team.

    Hurricanes Vs. Sabres: Brandon Sutter Gives Hurricanes 1-0 Lead Through First

    The Carolina Hurricanes have been outplayed for much of the first period in their matchup with the Buffalo Sabres but they still have the 1-0 lead thanks to a Brandon Sutter goal coming at the 19:17 mark of the first period. The assists on the goal came from Derek Joslin and Chad LaRose.

    Cam Ward has been the star of the game thus far through the first period. The Sabres have outshot the Hurricanes 22-13 through the first period and Ward has made all 22 saves thus far in the period. Tim Connolly leads all players with four shots on goal while Jeff Skinner has three shots on goal for the Hurricanes.
