Canadiens Vs. Bruins, Game 5: Double Overtime? Yeah, Sure, Why Not

Have you ever thought to yourself "I'm not sure whether or not playoff hockey is the greatest thing ever"? If you have, I don't think we're ever going to be friends. The Boston Bruins and Montreal Canadiens are about to play a second overtime, as Game 5 of their playoff series is still tied up at 1-1 after 20 minutes of bonus hockey.

Tim Thomas and Carey Price continue to put on a show. It's been one of those games where they'll probably hug each other at the end because they know that they were part of something special. Both teams could have scored three or four times in the first overtime, and each time, they were somehow denied.

Mike Cammalleri had the best chance of the first overtime period about halfway through, when he shot on a seemingly open net, only to put his shot off of the leg of Zdeno Chara, who had skated in front of the net as Thomas attempted to recover from a save. They had a few other shots of note, but Thomas was lights out, snagging one particularly memorable glove save off of a rip by James Wisniewski.

The Bruins had a power play at the end of the period, but great defense and Carey Price kept them out of the back of the net, forcing a second overtime period. If it’s half as good as the first, this is going to be an all-time classic.
