Lightning Vs. Penguins, Game 7: Penguins Go Home Early For A Change

Dwayne Roloson was brilliant in a 36-save shutout, leading the Tampa Bay Lightning to a 1-0 victory over the Penguins in Game 7 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series.

Sean Bergenheim scored for the Lightning, who came back from a 3-1 series deficit for the first time in team history. They also won their first playoff set since their run to the Stanley Cup title in 2004.

Tampa Bay advanced to face the Washington Capitals in an East semifinal series.

For the first time since 2007, the Penguins head home early in the first round of the playoffs. Pens fans are disappointed but still see a lot of good for the future of their squad:

All in all...there is no reason to be disappointed in this Penguins team. From GM Ray Shero and his moves at the trade deadline, to the heart shown by younger guys like Chris Conner, Eric Tangradi and Mark Letestu, this was a memorable season despite the overall outcome. Guys we may not have seen had their shot, padded their resumes and will make a case to crack the full-time roster next season.
