The New York Rangers have literally and figuratively limped through the start of the 2013-14 season. With a grueling nine-game road trip aside, the Rangers have dealt with injuries to Ryan Callahan, Rick Nash and Carl Hagelin.
Henrik Lundqvist injury: Rangers goalie out against Flyers
Henrik Lundqvist will miss Thursday night’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers due to an undisclosed injury.

Now add goaltender Henrik Lundqvist to the list, as head coach Alain Vigneault announced that Cam Talbot would make his NHL debut against the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday night. Lundqvist is dealing with an unidentified injury that the club has labeled as minor. While Lundqvist will be traveling with the club to Philadelphia, 23-year-old Jason Missiaen will act as the Rangers backup. He, like Talbot, has never appeared in an NHL game.
Lundqvist has apparently been dealing with the injury for approximately 10 days and irritated it against the Washington Capitals last Wednesday, according to Vigneault. The coach identified the issue as nagging and stated that Lundqvist would have been available had this been a game of significance.

Lundqvist has appeared in all seven of the Rangers games this season. He has registered an .890 save percentage and 3.45 goals against average over that span.
Thursday’s contest will pit two underachieving teams, as New York and Philadelphia have struggled to collect points in the early goings of this season. Both clubs have recorded a league-low 11 goals for this season and are dwelling in the cellar of the Metropolitan Division.
