Ryan Garbutt suspension: 5 games for charging Dustin Penner

Ryan Garbutt has been suspended five games for charting Dustin Penner of the Anaheim Ducks.

The NHL has suspended Dallas Stars forward Ryan Garbutt five games for charging Dustin Penner of the Anaheim Ducks.

The incident occurred early in the first period. Although there was no penalty called on the play, Penner was injured as a result of the hit.

The fact there was no penalty called did not sit well with Penner as he took his complaints to social media.

Garbutt will forfeit $14,743.60 in salary.

Here is Brendan Shanahan explaining the hit and the ruling.
