Cam Ward injury: Will miss 3-4 weeks with lower body injury
Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward had to leave Thursday’s game in the first period with an apparent lower body injury.

Starting goaltender Cam Ward had to leave Thursday's game against the Minnesota Wild early in the first period with a lower body injury that will sideline him for three to four weeks, the team announced. He was replaced by backup Justin Peters, who is making his first appearance of the season.
Peters allowed goals on the first two shots he faced.
Ward had stopped all five shots he faced before leaving just 4:07 into the game.
Entering Thursday's game Ward had appeared in seven games for the Hurricanes this season and had posted a .910 save percentage to go with a 3-2-2 record. He was limited to just 17 games last season and his backups -- Peters and Dan Ellis -- struggled in his absence.
The Hurricanes are already without their top backup goaltender, Anton Khudobin, who is currently out with a lower body injury of his own.
With Ward now out as well, the Hurricanes will call up Mike Murphy from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.
