Sabres TV crew announces game from between benches

The Buffalo Sabres announcers had to call Tuesday’s game between the benches. One of them was nearly taken out by a player.

Citing elevator problems to the press box before the game, the Buffalo Sabres television duo called Tuesday’s 3-2 shootout win over the Los Angeles Kings from between the benches.

The good news: It produced the incredible image seen here of long-time play-by-play man Rick Jeanneret sporting a helmet and full face shield.

It would come in handy when he had an encounter with Los Angeles Kings forward Jordan Nolan.

Analysts sitting between the benches is nothing new (NBC’s Pierre McGuire is down there for every broadcast that he’s a part of) but it’s a new one to see the play-by-play guy have to take in the game from that angle.
