Capitals vs. Rangers: Arron Asham’s sweet sniper goal

The New York fourth-liner proved that he has some serious offensive chops.

Prior to Sunday, New York Rangers right wing Arron Asham had only played 12 games this season, and had recorded one goal and no assists. He'd been out of the lineup recently, but made a big impact in his first game back when he scored a goal with this laser-accurate top-corner snipe:

Asham beat Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby to cut into what was at the time a 2-0 Capitals lead. Another goal later in the period tied the game at 2 before the first intermission.

Asham has been known more for his physical play than for his offensive prowess throughout his career, which has seen him play for the Canadiens, Islanders, Devils, Flyers, and Penguins prior to joining the Rangers, but Sunday he proved that, at least for one play, he can shoot like a superstar.
