Montreal Canadiens forward Ryan White has been asked to meet for an in-person hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety, according to Bob McKenzie of TSN.

The NHL Department of Player Safety has requested an in-person hearing with Montreal Canadiens forward Ryan White.

An in-person hearing allows the Department of Player Safety to levy a suspension exceeding six games in length. As McKenzie noted on his Twitter account, an in-person hearing does not guarantee that the suspension will be that long.
White will be meeting with the Department of Player Safety in relation to the hit he administered to Philadelphia Flyers defenseman Kent Huskins on Monday night. The play occurred at the six-minute mark of the first period in the Flyers' defensive zone. White connected with Huskins' head while the defenseman was attempting to set-up a breakout.
Huskins immediately fell to the ice and was clearly disoriented. Despite standard practice by organizations to label injuries vaguely (upper- or lower-body injury), the Flyers announced before the start of the second period that Huskins had sustained a concussion.
White was challenged to a fight by Kurtis Foster. He was given a five-minute major for fighting and a 10-minute match penalty.
The hit appears to be a textbook example of what the NHL is looking to eliminate. White solely focused on the head and stuck his elbow out in order to make contact.
The Hearing is scheduled to take place in New York City on Wednesday morning, according to Renaud Lavoie of RDS.
