USA TODAY SportsGudbranson boards Erat

Joel AuerbachBoth Erat and Gudbranson were chasing after the puck when the incident occured, but Erat had dished it off to a teammate by the time Gudbranson got into a position where he could make contact with him. As Erat turned, Gudbranson bore down on him and drove him hard into the boards. It looked like Erat was already losing his balance and was low to the ground when Gudbranson shoved him from a higher angle.
At any rate, Erat went head-first into the boards and was clearly shaken up. He left the game and there hasn’t been any update on his status. Will Brendan Shanahan give Gudbranson a call tomorrow?

USA TODAY SportsEmelin made the mistake of trying to clobber the Great Wall of Lucic on Saturday night, and the results were disastrous. Emelin had to leave his feet to make the hit and ended up getting knocked back about four or five feet onto the ice. It looked like Emelin twisted his knee on the way down, and he ended up hobbling off to the locker room.
I wonder if anyone will try running Lucic anytime soon after this incident. I mean, Lucic didn’t even move at all. Go outside, find a tennis ball and throw it at a brick wall. Congratulations! You’ve just recreated this exact play.
