So, Sidney Crosby is pretty good. The Penguins captain reminded everyone of that, scoring twice in the first period to stake Pittsburgh to a 2-1 lead over Ottawa.

Sid the Kid scored twice to give Pittsburgh a 2-1 lead after one period.

If the Sens had any intention of setting an early tone, the Penguins quickly eradicated any possibility of that happening. Pittsburgh came out flying, clearly catching Ottawa off guard. Crosby wowed the crowd when he skated through the Sens' defense and beat Craig Anderson to open the scoring.
The Penguins didn't let up. They continued to attack Ottawa, pushing them back on their heels. The constant pressure resulted in a couple Ottawa penalties, but the Senators countered with a power play goal of their own. In all honesty, Tomas Vokoun should've stopped this Kyle Turris shot.
Unimpressed, Crosby and his linemates crashed the net with a few minutes remaining in the period. Craig Anderson thought Crosby would pass the puck and Sid took advantage.
Overall, not a great showing for Anderson and his teammates in the first period. Pittsburgh outshot Ottawa 18-7. If they don’t regain some sort of control in the second, this game could get ugly.
