If you get outshot 19-4 in one period, you might want to turn things around pretty quickly. That's the task ahead for the Boston Bruins, trailing Chicago 1-0 in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Bruins vs. Blackhawks Game 2 update: Chicago all revved up while Boston stalls
Chicago sped past Boston early in Game 2 with a 1-0 lead.
Game 2 started about as carefully as you'll see a Stanley Cup Final game played. Neither side had many chances, as play was forced to the outside for puck battles to be fought along the boards. The game finally started to open up a bit after five minutes, and Tuukka Rask was forced to make a flashy glove save on Nick Leddy.
Chicago earned the first power play of the game, but only managed a single shot from it. Duncan Keith would've had a wide open net, but the puck escaped his stick blade at the last second. Even so, the Blackhawks' power play looked more effective than in Game 1.
Just when you were thinking of changing the channel, a nutty sequence happened. Chicago crashed the net, peppering Rask with three shots in tight that he stopped. Rask got pulled out of the net, the puck bounced back out, and Patrick Sharp buried it from distance.
The goal ignited the Blackhawks, and the Bruins were under siege the rest of the period. Minutes after the goal, Torey Krug turned the puck over and the Hawks stormed down the ice. It looked like Rask kept it out with a goal line stand, and official review upheld the no-goal call on the ice.
