Greg M. Cooper-USA TODAY SportsAs expected, the NHL’s 2016 Vezina Trophy was awarded to the tremendous goalie of the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.
Holtby finished a historic season with the Capitals a year after signing a 5-year, $30.5 million contract. He had 48 regular season wins, becoming the seventh goalie in NHL history with consecutive 40-win campaigns. He finished eighth in save percentage (.922), fifth in goals-against average (2.20) and sixth in saves.

This is the second Jack Adams Award nomination for Trotz in his 17th year as an NHL head coach. Under his tutelage this season, the Washington Capitals won the Presidents’ Trophy with 120 points, winning the Metropolitan Division in the process.
