As expected, the NHL’s 2016 Vezina Trophy was awarded to the tremendous goalie of the Washington Capitals on Wednesday.
NHL Awards 2016: Capitals’ Braden Holtby wins Vezina Trophy for best goalie
Holtby caps a historic season with an award.

The general managers of the NHL voted Braden Holtby as the NHL's goalie of the year. Holtby beat out Jonathan Quick of the Los Angeles Kings and Ben Bishop of the Tampa Bay Lightning, the other two Vezina Trophy finalists this season.
Holtby finished a historic season with the Capitals a year after signing a 5-year, $30.5 million contract. He had 48 regular season wins, becoming the seventh goalie in NHL history with consecutive 40-win campaigns. He finished eighth in save percentage (.922), fifth in goals-against average (2.20) and sixth in saves.
Holtby also tied Martin Brodeur’s record for wins in a season. It was Holtby’s first Vezina Trophy nomination. He is very good at pouring water over his head during games.
