The Eagles are favored from four to 5.5 points at home depending on the sports book, according to Odds Shark. Oddly, the setting bodes well for the Redskins. Not only are the Eagles 0-6 against the spread in their last six games as home favorites, but they’re 0-6 straight-up as well. The Redskins aren’t in much of a position to challenge at 1-4 against the spread on the road this season, but don’t expect the home crowd to play much of a factor, either.

Both teams have fared much better against the total, however. This season, the Eagles and Redskins have combined to go OVER in 12 of 19 games played. That’s somewhat unsurprising given both teams’ offense-heavy, defense-light tendencies this season. Washington and Philadelphia rank ninth and 11th in the league in points per game, respectively, and 31st and 20th in points allowed per game.
The total for Sunday’s game is currently sits at 53 points. If both teams hit their weekly average, the game will go under by roughly two points. If the game is anything like the first meeting between the teams this season, then the over is a safe bet. In Week 1, the Eagles beat the Redskins 33-27 at FedEx Field. LeSean McCoy ran wild during the game, picking up 184 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries.
Both offenses are arguably clicking better than they did during the first matchup. The Eagles have finally settled on a starting quarterback with Nick Foles, who has thrown 10 touchdown passes over his last two games. Meanwhile, Robert Griffin III finally appears comfortable behind center for the Redskins. He is coming off arguably his best performance of the season. Against the Minnesota Vikings, Griffin threw for 281 yards and had three touchdown passes to zero interceptions. He also pitched in 44 yards rushing.
The Eagles’ matchup against Griffin may be the most important of the game. The Eagles’ defense has looked much improved in recent weeks, holding opponents to 20 points or less in each of their last five games after giving up at least 21 in the first five. If Griffin stays hot, however, a shootout could ensue.
