Blackpool seems on a crusade to convert every neutral, even if it means they have to lead the league in goals allowed. At least, that's the end product of Ian Holloway's commitment to progressive football, a philosophy that has led to an early exchange of goals at Bloomfield Road. After thirteen minutes of today's match against Everton, the Seasiders and Toffees where tied, 1-1.
Blackpool 1-1 Everton: Fast Start At Bloomfield Road Sees Neal Eardley, Tim Cahill Trade Goals
Blackpool opened the scoring in the tenth minute, taking advantage of an ill-advised Mikel Arteta foul. The Everton star took down his Blackpool counterpart, Charlie Adam, just outside the Toffee's area. The result was an easy free kick of Earley, who curled a left-footed shot into net, giving goalkeeper Tim Howard not chance to prevent the Tangerines' opener.
Three minute later, Everton's other star attacker responded, and in typical Tim Cahill fashion, it was done with his head. One of the most prolific headers in league history added to his reputation in the thirteenth minute, putting a Yakubu cross past Mathew Gilks for the equalizer.
Blackpool and Everton came into today’s match in eighth and ninth place, respectively, with the winner likely to climb into a Europe League spot.
