Marc Albrighton has broken Aston Villa's goalless drought to open the scoring at Craven Cottage.
Fulhan 0-1 Aston Villa: Marc Albrighton Ends Villa’s Goalless Drought With Shot At Craven Cottage
Aston Villa were sitting on over 380 minutes without a goal (without counting Richard Dunne's own goal at Sunderland, of course) before Marc Albrighton's glorious goal against Fulham. Barry Bannan sent a pinpoint pass with his left foot from forty yards to Albrighton, who collected, beating Fulham defender Miguel Salcido with his first touch. With two more touches, the young winger sent the ball straight into the far corner of the net, with keeper Mark Schwarzer diving, unable to get a touch on the ball.
Aston Villa captain Nigel Reo-Coker left the game shortly after the 30-minute mark with a knock to his knee. Ciaran Clark came on to replace the midfielder, making this game all about the Villa Academy. The visitors have Nathan Delfoneso at striker and Marc Albrighton, Barry Bannan and Cieran Clark all in midfield. The young Villa side--none are over 21--are bossing Fulham in midfield.
