First Chelsea have to prove that they're able to score a goal. Then they have to prove that they're able to do it with one of their forwards. Unfortunately for the Blues, it was really Branislav Ivanović who scored that goal. Florent Malouda, taking Chelsea's 13th corner of the match, sent in his kick, with Ivanović climbing over both Ryan Nelson and Gaël Givet to head the ball goalward.
Chelsea Vs. Blackburn: Nicolas Anelka Puts Home Side Up 2-0
The ball was on its way to the net when Nicolas Anelka charged forward and tapped it in. It's quite possible Anelka was getting revenge for the FA Cup tie against Ipswich, in which his ball was on its way into the net when Soloman Kalou rushed forward and nudged it over the line.
Speaking of Kalou, the super sub has come on in place of Anelka, while Michael Essien, who'd been relatively quiet for most of the match, made way for Josh McEachran.
