The goal by Germán Denis in the 49th minute was meant to make the match between AS Roma and Atalanta a bit more interesting. After all, La Dea were down 2-0 to start the second half, but holding an unbeaten record for their first four matches, looked as though they might challenge for a point after their goal. Instead it was the home side getting the final goal of the match, with Fabio Simplicio scoring in the 82nd minute to give Roma the 3-1 win.
AS Roma Vs. Atalanta: La Dea Finally Beaten 3-1 In Rome
Bojan Krkic opened the scoring with his first goal in Roma red, and an impressive goal it was, too. The Spaniard chested down a long ball from Daniele De Rossi and managed to fight off Atalanta defender Gianpaolo Bellini with some pretty twists and turns. A shot to the far post fooled keeper Andrea Consigli and Roma had the lead.
Not to be outdone by his fellow forward, Pablo Osvaldo scored Roma's second just ten minutes later, making it three goals in three starts for the Argentine. Atalanta had a bit of a panic (not Pjanic) attack after another Bojan attempt, the resulting save producing a corner. Consigli got a bit too anxious, pushing away the kick, which eventually fell to Osvaldo's feet. Again, Consigli was too hasty, attempting to save the ball, but Osvaldo just went around the diving keeper to put it in the back of the net. Offside? That's for you to decide.
Unfortunately for neutral observers, the Denis header only slowed down the game, with Roma tightening back up after a few minutes and barely allowing the visitors near their goal. And so in the end it was all Roma, as Miralem Pjanic set up Simplicio beautifully, with the Brazilian then adding his own flair by toe-poking the ball over Consigli's head and into the back of the net.
