Tottenham Hotspur won a clash against Fulham that's probably best described as 'surreal', putting in an insipid performance but beating their hosts by two goals anyway. Rarely will such dominance as Fulham put forth be seen in football without a corresponding win - the Cottagers had 31 shots compared to Spurs' eight and a frankly ludicrous amount of the ball in the second half. But unlike their hosts, Tottenham look their chances, scoring early thanks to Gareth Bale, in first half stoppage time through a superb solo effort by Aaron Lennon and then with virtually the last kick of the game via substitute Jermain Defoe.

In the meantime, it was Brad Friedel who was being subjected to most of the work. The former Aston Villa netminder was forced into action within a minute of kickoff when he dove to his right to parry a flicked header from ex-teammate Steve Sidwell, but it was the second half which saw the American at his best, pulling off several spectacular stops to prevent Fulham from drawing level - they'd already grabbed one back thanks to an odd goal that Brede Hangeland probably knew very little about.
The end of the game was a complete mess, featuring a blown penalty after Kyle Walker grabbed the ball, a goalline clearance by Luka Modric and the hosts missing several sitters on top of that. Then Tottenham broke, their first attack in what seemed like centuries, and put the game completely out of reach with Defoe slamming in a shot from a pullback, making it 3-1 with the last kick of the match.
Sometimes, life just isn’t fair.
