The rumors have been confirmed: Manchester United will, in fact, play the MLS All-Stars on July 27 at Red Bull Arena. This will be the second straight year that United will be the All-Stars’ opponent.

The match will mark the first time the All-Star Game has been played in the New York area since 1997. Giants Stadium, where the New York MLS team played until last year, hosted the first two all-star games.
“The combination of one of the most spectacular stadiums of its size in the world with the passionate soccer supporters in the metropolitan New York area will provide a terrific showcase for our All-Star Game,” Garber said on the MLS website. “Red Bull Arena will be a tremendous venue for this marquee event and we are pleased to bring the All-Star Game to an area with a rich soccer tradition.”
