American international Stuart Holden has just been the victim of an awful two-footed tackle by Manchester United centre back Johnny Evans that saw the defender lunge for a 50-50 ball and dive straight onto the midfielder's knee. It looks like a nasty injury, and Holden was subsequently stretchered off the pitch. After making sure that the 25 year-old was alright, Andre Marriner turned around and showed Evans a straight red - a totally and utterly deserved red, too. It's unclear just how badly Holden is injured - there was a nasty cut on his knee and a lot of blood but very little to suggest ligament damage or anything of the like. Nevertheless, it's a really unfortunate blow for the Bolton man.

Johan Elmander's free kick, incidentally, nearly beat Edwin van der Sar at his far post after the veteran goalkeeper had left the low shot - it took a vicious bounce and ended up about three inches wide. Michael Carrick will drop into the centre of defence for United. It's still 0-0 at Old Trafford.
