It's 0-0 at halftime in New York, where the Red Bulls are hosting the 0-1 Seattle Sounders, but you wouldn't know it from all the chances. The big news is Theirry Henry missing an early penalty kick, saved well by Kasey Keller following a Jhon Kennedy Hurtardo foul on Juan Agudelo, but there have been several other chances for the opening goal - Fredy Montero has been involved in most of them for Seattle, hitting the post, forcing several fine saves from goalkeeper Greg Sutton, and nearly setting up a beautiful goal for Uruguayan midfielder Alvaro Fernandez as he lofted a rather cheeky ball right over the heart of the New York defence.
New York Red Bulls Vs. Seattle Sounders: 0-0 At Half Time But Not For Lack Of Chances
Despite all the chances for the visitors, the Red Bulls have dominated possession, winning what now seems like several hundred corners over the course of the match and really wearing down Seattle’s defence. Agudelo and Henry have looked particularly dangerous - there are goals in this one, and probably from both sides as each teams’ forward lines put their opponents under huge pressure. This match is not going to end 0-0*, but if it does it’ll have been a thoroughly enjoyable 0-0. It’s a shame, however, that there aren’t more people watching at Red Bull arena, where the atmosphere is great but there are a lot of empty seats.
*Probably.
