It was a rough first half filled with errant shots and offsides calls, but Josh Wolff's well intentioned work ethic has finally translated into something positive early in the second half. In the 50th minute, Wolff was played through on goal by a long ball. He ran onto the ball, rounded Columbus keeper Will Hesmer, and slotted the ball into the back of the net. Wolff proceeded to over-do his celebration a bit, but who's complaining? He tore off his shirt and literally jumped into La Barra Brava shirtless, earning a yellow card. I don't think he cared much.
D.C. United Vs. Columbus Crew: Josh Wolff Puts United Ahead
Shortly afterwards, Charlie Davies was brought into the match to make his MLS debut, replacing Joseph Ngwenya. Ngwenya had been poor, so despite the fact that Davies is actually very similar to Wolff and nothing like Ngwenya, it should be seen as a positive change. In any event, it's great to see Davies making a first team professional appearance.
