Only a minute after Omar Cummings scored the Colorado Rapids' second goal, Jamie Smith added another goal with an absolutely stunning strike. It's been a rough night for the Portland Timbers so far, and it might only get worse. It's 3-0 after just 31 minutes, and the score is probably a well deserved one for Colorado. Their opponents have had a few moments with decent attacks and decent defending, but all in all, they've been fairly outclassed. In particular, they don't seem to have any answer for Conor Casey.
Colorado Rapids Vs. Portland Timbers: Jamie Smith Scores A Stunner, Pours On The Misery
The setup for Smith’s goal was odd, but the strike itself was stunning. Through some deflections and unintentional touches, a ball ended up rolling off Casey, through the middle of the pitch for Smith to run onto. The Rapids midfielder wasn’t closed down at all and unleashed a thunderous drive towards the top right corner, leaving the keeper with no chance and putting his team up 3-0. It was a fantastic goal, and the Timbers have a long way back from this to even look respectable.
