Portland Timbers Keep Cranking Out Quality Marketing With Latest Ad

I can't pretend to be a big fan of the Portland Timbers. That would, after all, ruin my street cred at the Seattle Sounders blog where I do a significant amount of work. But, I just can't hide my appreciation for the job the Timbers marketing folks are doing. This is one of the pieces they've produced for Thursday's home opener:

Man, “No Pity In Rose City” is a pretty classic chant, and it’s very smart of them to include it in many of the team’s promos. It seems like the back-office people have made all the right moves heading into the home opener.

From all appearances, the organization has done a remarkable job of turning their stadium into one of the better MLS facilities. Right now, I still think the on-field product is a bit lagging, but as new teams go, there’s definitely stuff to like. Definitely have to give them credit for announcing a couple quality friendly opponents (America and Ajax), as well as landing a Designated Player just a day before the opening of Jeld-Wen Field. Thursday really looks like it’s going to be the continuation of a fun era in the Pacific Northwest.
