Spanish La Liga Sunday: League-Wide Halftime Summary

Lots of important matches across Spain today as the penultimate week of the season reaches the halftime break.

No goals to report at the Estadio Mestalla, but Levante's Xisco was shown a red card for a bad challenge on Valencia's Roberto Soldado. Already relegated Almeria are taking out some frustration on Mallorca, leading 3-1 at halftime. First half goals from Kalu Uche (4'), Juan Manuel Ortiz (15') and Pablo Piatti (32') have the home side trying to end their home schedule on a positive note.

Racing Santader and Sporting Gijon are tied 1-1 thanks to goals Christian Fernández (Racing) and Miguel de las Cuevas (Sporting). Atlético Madrid lead 1-0 against Hércules as they attempt to qualify for the Europa League on the day reports have Diego Forlan ready to transfer to Turkish side Beşiktaş in the summer. Hércules had a chance to equalize in the 29th minute for David Trezeguet missed a penalty shot. Málaga's Recio scored a late goal to put his side in front of Athletic Bilbao as nobody seems to want to take hold of a Europa League spot.

All the other matches in Spain is scoreless at the half, including relegation threatened Real Zaragoza (vs. Espanyol) and Real Socieday (vs. Sevilla). Barcelona are 45 minutes from lifting the La Liga trophy having clinched it at Levante in the mid-week.
