Oh my word. A beautiful move from Blackpool carves Tottenham Hotspur wide open, with Jason Puncheon's flick ultimately finds DJ Campbell in space and with only Heurelho Gomes to beat. The Brazilian pulled off an absolutely brilliant save, denying the striker with his left foot and sending the ball behind for a corner. The drama had just started, however.
Tottenham Hotspur Vs. Blackpool: Visitors Go Ahead After Crazy 2 Minutes
Charlie Adam swung the ball in, and for no reason whatsoever Michael Dawson opted to raise his hand and swat the ball away. It was a clear penalty and Lee Probert had no hesitation whatsoever in pointing to the spot. Adam stepped up to take it, sending a fizzing effort to Gomes' right, but the goalkeeper pulled off his second remarkable stop in as many minutes my pushing the ball behind for yet another corner. Blackpool were crestfllen, and Spurs fans were rejoicing.
And then came calamity. From that corner, Gomes lost the ball, then went chasing after it, scything down Gary Taylor Fletcher as the forward tried to work the ball back in. It was another penalty, and this time Adam went left, smashing the shot home despite there being some debate as to whether or not he should be the one taking it. So Blackpool lead 1-0 at White Hart Lane, and I think Adam has probably just set the Premier League record for shortest time between taking two penalties. Bizarre scenes.
