Stoke City lead Arsenal 1-0 after what might be the worst set piece defending I've ever seen. The ball is pinged out to Jermaine Pennant on the right, who is being tracked for some reason by Andrei Arshavin. The little Russian slides in - a great challenge, to be fair - that wins the ball and upends the winger, but Pennant recovers and gets to the ball first. Arshavin responds with a tiny little shove which somehow sends Pennant flying. I don't want to accuse a player of diving (after all, he is English, and English players are bastions of manliness and morality, even ones who've played for Real Zaragoza), so obviously the grass in that corner is very very slippery or something.
Stoke City Vs. Arsenal: Kenwyne Jones Opens Scoring
Anyway, the free kick is swung in after the television showing several Arsenal defenders yelling at each other, which proves to be a totally ineffective way of defending set pieces. The ball bounces in the area, hits a stationary, unmarked Kenwyne Jones in the chest, and bounces straight into Wojciech Szczesny's goal. That was spectacularly poor by Arsenal, and it's 1-0 to Stoke.
