Good grief. Stoke are now 2-0 ahead of Arsenal after a speculative long-range effort from Jermaine Pennant somehow evaded everyone and looped into the top corner of Wojciech Szczesny's goal. Since scoring, Stoke have been well on top, using Rory Delap's throw to cause terror in the collective hearts of the Arsenal back line, and that pressure has paid off again.
Stoke City Vs. Arsenal: Jermaine Pennant Doubles Stoke’s Lead
A long throw was only partially cleared and the ball popped out to Pennant, who shifted the ball onto his right foot 25 yards out and slammed a shot goalwards. Johan Djourou was on hand, but instead of being able to pull off a black the defender could only get the tip of his boot to the ball, which sent it off on a weird looping trajectory which caught Szczesny by surprise, the young goalkeeper only able to brush the ball with his fingertips before it settled into the net. Two minutes later, Stoke hit the crossbar. What on Earth is going on here?
