Arsenal are coming off a 1-0 victory at the Emirates against league leaders Manchester United. Naturally, it only makes sense that at halftime in their next game they're being thumped 2-0 by Tony Pulis' Stoke City. Arsenal's attack had been a shambles, their defending has been worse, and they look more like Wigan Athletic than anyone really feels comfortable with right now.
Stoke City Vs. Arsenal: Hosts Lead 2-0 At Halftime
The first goal came off possibly the most laughable free kick defending of all time, Kenwyne Jones literally not having to move to guide the ball past Wojciech Szczesy with his chest, and while the second was slightly unfortunate, deflected long range shots are only really a problem if you can’t get the ball out of your own defensive third. Which they can’t.
Something has got to change in the second half. This Arsenal side clearly has the talent to get two or three goals past Stoke in forty-five minutes, but not by playing like this. What are the odds we see Thomas Vermaelen introduced at some point?
