You can't expect the Philadelphia Union to score six goals every week. Going to face the Colorado Rapids in the Mile High City was also a big task to deal with as well. Still, the Union were up to the task Saturday night as they at least kept their Eastern Conference lead over the New York Red Bulls by two points with the 1-1 draw.
Colorado Rapids Vs. Philadelphia Union: Mwanga and Casey Trade Goals In 1-1 Draw
The game was particularly frustrating for the Rapids however. The draw was their sixth in a row, a new MLS record. While they are unbeaten in their last eight games, the draw didn't make head coach Gary Smith happy after his team went ahead in the 63nd minute with a Conor Casey penalty kick.
Philadelphia raced back just moments later with Danny Mwanga, who grabbed his forth of the season.
The Union looked like the better of the two sides though throughout the game. Aside from the two goals the best chance was in the 53rd minute when Keon Daniels took a ball after a long string of passes by the Union and set a shot high over Matt Picken’s goal.
The draw keeps the defending MLS Cup champions at fifth place in the Western Conference with 19 points.
