German Bundesliga, Week 5: Simons Two Penalties Leads Nürnberg Over Köln
Köln captain Pedro Geromel conceded both penalties in the 31st and 35th minutes with Markus Feulner and Thomas Pekhart drawing the penalties. Goalkeeper Michael Rensing guess correctly both times, but the penalties were well taken by Simons and out of reach.
The home side kept their heads up and came right back in the 39th minute. Sławomir Peszko broke down the left side and crossed the ball to Lukas Podolski. Alexander Stephan made an excellent save but Adil Chihi mashed home the rebound for his second goal of the season.
Thomas Pekhart picked up his second yellow card in the 42nd minute and was sent off. Neither side managed a goal in the second half, and Köln saw defender Mišo Brečko sent off in the 75th minute.
The result keeps Köln just north of the relegation zone, as the three teams at the bottom lost on Saturday.
