Chile qualify for 2014 World Cup

Chile’s 2-1 win over Ecuador on Tuesday has seen them ensure their place at next summer’s World Cup.

Chile confirmed their place at next summer's World Cup after their 2-1 win over Ecuador on Tuesday evening. It means they've now qualified for two consecutive World Cups for the first time since 1966, having recovered from a shaky start to their qualification campaign with an impressive unbeaten streak stretching back nine games.

This current Chile side aren't as scary as they were a few years ago under Marcelo Bielsa, though they certainly shouldn't be underestimated. With the likes of Alexis Sánchez, David Pizarro, Arturo Vidal and Matías Fernández sitting alongside a whole host of young talent looking to break into the first team, Jorge Sampaoli's team have the potential to cause some upsets in a few months time.
