Mallorca vs. Real Betis: Final score 1-0, Los Bermellones stay alive with the win
Mallorca are stlll in deep trouble but their victory today over Real Betis is at least a lifeline that gives them a chance of pulling off a great escape in the final two weeks of the season.
The win moves Mallorca off the bottom of the table, but they still remain three points from safety behind Real Zaragoza and Deportivo La Coruña. Betis, despite the loss, remain on track for a Europa League spot.
Mallorca were the stronger side from the start, putting Betis under a great deal of pressure. Victor Casadesus forced a tremendous save from Betis goalkeeper Adrian and Hemed hammered a follow-up volley off the cross bar. The pressure continued until Hemed broke through in the 21st minute, finishing off a rebound with a shot from close range.
