Giles Barnes is having himself quite the first half. After scoring a somewhat opportunistic goal in the 18th minute against the Seattle Sounders, he followed that up with an absolutely wonderful strike from a good 30 yards out to give the Houston Dynamo a 2-0 lead on Saturday.

The Houston Dynamo midfielder has already scored two goals in the game, ending an 11-match scoring slump.

The Sounders were at least partially to blame for the goal, as they gave Barnes tons of space. With no one five yards from him, Barnes just let it rip, easily beating Sounders goalkeeper Michael Gspurning inside the top corner.
After a fast start that saw him score four goals in his first 10 games, Barnes had been in quite a scoring slump coming into this game. The last time he had found the back of the net was on May 8, a stretch of 11 starts without a goal. Despite the scoring slump, though, he’s been able to remain on the field and has only missed one game, which was because of injury.
