AS Monaco had been on the lookout for a striker after Radamel Falcao suffered a serious knee injury, and they've signed one right on the deadline. Fulham's Dimitar Berbatov has joined Claudio Ranieri's Ligue 1 outfit on loan until the season, though the official club statement makes no mention of a permanent option.
Dimitar Berbatov joins Monaco on loan
Monaco have completed the signing of Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov on loan until the end of the season.
Quoted on the club’s website, Berba commented:
“I am both happy, excited and a little nervous. I can’t wait to start training with my new teammates and begin a new chapter in my career.”
The 33-year-old Bulgarian hasn’t impressed as Fulham have toiled near the bottom of the Premier League so far this season, having netted just four times in 18 matches. Hopefully now with a better team around him, he’ll be able to recapture some of the form which saw him score 15 league goals for the Cottagers last season.
One thing’s for certain: he shouldn’t struggle to slot into the classy environs of Monte Carlo.
