League Cup 2014, quarterfinal draw: Chelsea, Liverpool get winnable away draws

Liverpool and Chelsea will take over lower league opponents on the road, while Tottenham hosts Newcastle in the only matchup between Premier League sides.

The final eight teams for this season’s League Cup in England are set and we’ve now learned who will play who in the quarterfinals in December.

Premier League leaders Chelsea drew an away trip to face Derby County of the Championship. While not tie is a given at this point in the tournament, it certainly seems like a winnable match for the Blues. Liverpool have a winnable away draw as well as the Reds will travel to face Bournemouth.

Tottenham will host Newcastle at White Hart Lane, a repeat of a league match from last weekend that saw the Magpies defeat Spurs 2-1. Southampton will also be feeling confident as they travel to face Sheffield United.

All quarterfinal ties will be played during the week of December 15, with each tie being a single leg, with extra time and penalties, if necessary, to determine a winner.

Here’s the full list of quarterfinal match-ups.
