Might Manchester United join the race to sign Radamel Falcao?

Radamel Falcao to Manchester United? That’s crazy.

Radamel Falcao is almost certainly leaving Monaco, but will it be for Manchester City, Arsenal or Real Madrid? Apparently, it could be for Manchester United, who AS say have made a shock bid for the Colombian striker.

The report says that Manchester United will pay Monaco €65 million for Falcao.

Manchester United signing Falcao seems a bit ridiculous. The Red Devils are likely to let Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck depart, leaving them with just two strikers, but those two are Robin van Persie -- even if he is hurt -- and Wayne Rooney. To then bring in Falcap, and pay €65 million to do so would make little sense. Then again, little Manchester United do in the transfer market makes sense anymore so who knows.

If the Red Devils are going to sign players on deadline day, it should be for a centerback or a central midfielder. Falcao is neither, and to make matters more confounding, he plays the one position Manchester United already have top end talent.

Falcao to Manchester United doesn't make sense. It doesn't fit. It should be written off. Falcao will go to Manchester City, with Alvaro Negredo heading out, or Arsenal, who are desperate for a frontman with Olivier Giroud hurt. Even Real Madrid, who only have one recognized striker on their team, are logical. But not Manchester United.

If only “this is completely ridiculous and would be dumb business” is enough for us to dismiss a Manchester United rumor these days.
