However, there's no doubting he's a fine poacher, and he should do a solid job as a backup to Karim Benzema at the Merengues.
Madrid have been on the lookout for a rotation striker since the departure of youngster Álvaro Morata to Juventus in the summer, and it looks like Hernández is the chosen one.
Meanwhile, United look set to sign Radamel Falcao on loan from Monaco to boost their numbers in attack, with Danny Welbeck possibly set to follow Hernández out of Old Trafford.
