AS Roma close to signing Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa on loan
Roma are set to bring versatile Newcastle defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa in on loan.
Yanga-Mbiwa earned himself a move to the Premier League after a wonderful few years at his boyhood club Montpellier. He was part of the Ligue 1-winning MHSC side of 2012, and he's so far earned three international caps for France. However, the 25-year-old hasn't won the trust of Newcastle boss Alan Pardew, so his exit looks imminent.
According to the Chronicle, Marseille, Lens and Bordeaux were all offered Yanga-Mbiwa earlier this summer, though his wages exceeded what the French clubs were prepared to pay. The good news is that Newcastle seem to have struck a deal with Roma, who could do with some defensive reinforcement after losing Medhi Benatia, Rafel Tolói and Tin Jedvaj this summer.
