The No. 2 Court at the All-England Club has already seen one top seed go spiraling out of the women’s draw on Day 7 of Wimbledon 2011, and American Mardy Fish, the lone U.S. player still alive in the Championships, has just added another. He did this while carrying the unconscionable sin of playing professional tennis past one’s 30th birthday, and despite never having advanced past the third round at SW19 in an eleven-year pro career. Fish dealt 23 aces to Berdych’s seven, a stat bested this tournament only by the 26 in his first-round match against Marcel Granollers.
