Clay and Serena Williams are getting along right now.

The two-time French Open champion has won two matches on clay at the Family Circle Cup in Charleston, S.C. Her latest victory showed that Williams was loosening up on slippery surface, moving quicker and cleaner.

Williams said she was also feeling more comfortable on clay.

From the AP:

“So I felt good,” Williams said. “I love the clay.”

Williams, the tournament’s No. 5 seed, beat No. 17 seed Marina Erakovic of New Zealand 6-2, 6-2 in just under an hour and a half. Williams served six aces and saved all three break points.

Williams last won this tournament in 2008. It’s been even longer for her older sister, Venus; the older Williams sister last won the final match in Charleston in 2004. Venus, a wildcard entry, defeated Anastasia Rodionova of Australia, also in straight sets. Venus won 7-5, 6-2 in an hour and 17 minutes.

If the sisters win on Friday they will face off in a semifinal showdown on Saturday.

Also from the AP:

“If we both get to the semifinal,” Venus said, “I guess the best Williams will win.”

Other results:

No. 3 Marion Bartoli fought for three sets, but lost on Day 4.

No. 13 Nadia Petrova, No. 4 Vera Zvonareva, No. 9 Lucie Safarova and No. 6 seed Sabine Lisicki all advanced.
